Let it Settle
Some major overreactions are bound to take over your mind after seeing what occurred in Week 1. Let it settle itself out. I, for one, know that the team I drafted is the one that I truly believe in after spending the summer researching everything out the wazoo. As previously posted, I had the #3 overall pick in my big money league and took James Cook. It was tough seeing Buffalo hang 36 on Houston in Week 1 and win with very little involvement from Cook. I didn't expect a crazy stat line or anything against that defense, but a touchdown would have been nice. That being said, Ja'Marr Chase threw up a complete stinker in the Bengals' Week 1 victory, so that certainly made me feel a little better.
Trust your initial instincts about who you drafted, but always be prepared to pounce on waiver wire talent. Please don't sell the farm yet. Sure, most leagues will have an extremely thin availability of impact players for your roster, but you still need to be informed and aware of what's happening. In the coming weeks, our Reception Index will begin to provide you some unique insight into usage and players you need to keep an eye on and possibly scoop up.
Until then, here are some players I'm expecting a big week out of:
Baker Mayfield
"Revenge game" against the Browns, Tampa Bay home opener, a defense just torn apart by Trevor Lawrence. I'm expecting the Bucs to hang 40+ on Cleveland this week. Baker will be the catalyst for that happening.
Bucky Irving
See above. Irving will shine this week. I'm expecting a 20+ point PPR game here.
Jadarian Price
I think the gameplan in Seattle changes a little bit this week and will feature a heavy dose of Price. The Seahawks will look to take even more pressure off of Drew Lock this week now that they've had some time to gameplan without Sam Darnold in the lineup, and Price will certainly benefit from that. I think Jadarian will see 15+ carries this week in addition to a few receptions out of the backfield and a touchdown.
Emeka Egbuka
Nothing to write here. See above. Egbuka obliterates the Browns' secondary to a tune of 10-140, 2 TDs.
Malik Nabers
Honestly looked pretty smooth in Week 1 for a game-time decision. I think he sees 15+ targets this week on route to his rookie season form.
Romeo Doubs
This week is his chance to truly shine. The Patriots don't have a ton of options in the passing game, and Doubs certainly fills that role. He had a few drops and mental lapses in Seattle last week, and he'll want to atone for those. Drake Maye will be more focused in the Patriots' home opener, and I believe that Doubs will be the beneficiary of that.
